Prayer
As Christians we believe prayer to be vital to our relationship with God. In prayer we draw close to God; through prayer we bring our thanks and requests to God and by prayer we access God’s power at work in the world today.
At Christ Church there are a number of different opportunities to pray together.
Daily Prayer is offered from Monday-Wednesday and on Friday at 9am in the crypt chapel. This offers a regular rhythm of prayer upholding the congregation and it’s mission and ministry before God. On Thursdays we meet in the crypt chapel at 7am for worship, bible study and prayer.
Central Prayer Meetings take place on the second Tuesday of every other month at 7.30pm in the crypt chapel. Dates for these can be found on our events page. At these meetings we pray for the life of the church, for each other, for our branch communities and our mission partners around the world.
Prayer Ministry is offered every Sunday. One or two people gather around another who has requested prayer. This may be for healing or guidance in their own life or in the life of someone they love. Together they seek to hear God’s voice and release the power of the Holy Spirit. It is informal and relaxed and is overseen by two leaders under the guidance of the Rector and church leadership team.
Prayer Consultations involve three people meeting with somebody who has requested a consultation. The three people meet in order to hear God’s plans and purposes for the consultee. These can last more than an hour as they wait on God. The person being prayed for has an equal part to play. The consultation is confidential and if you would like one, please contact us.
