Branch Communities
Christ Church Spitalfields is at the centre of one of the most diverse parts of London, itself one of the most diverse cities in the world. We passionately believe that God is calling us as a church to reach out to these diverse cultures, traditions and communities, making new disciples of Jesus. This means nurturing those of us who are already part of those cultures and communities and assisting and equipping each other in our mission to those around us. That is why believe branch communities are a fresh, exciting and fundamental expression of our life together as a church.
What is a Branch Community?
A branch community is a group of between 15-50 people that meets together to reach out in mission and grow as disciples.
Each branch community has a name and is centred round a vision that gives the group purpose and momentum.
Every branch community emerges out of its own particular context or culture so will usually meet together at a suitable time (week day or weekend) in a public venue where people from that culture can feel comfortable and at ease.
Why Branch Communities?
As mid-sized groups, branch communities are great places to meet people and make friends either over a meal, a coffee, or through a project or task. They are large enough for you to meet someone you relate to, but small enough for you to be known.
Because branch communities emerge out of their culture it’s easy to invite friends and colleagues along.
Branch communities are also great places to step out into ministry, mission and leadership so is a great place to grow as a disciple of Jesus.
